Love and Fear and the Heart of the Populace.

Dog Poet Transmitting.......

May your noses always be cold and wet.

I said I would talk about the heart this time. I had written half of a post. Something I really liked. Open Office has been getting buggy and so I lost that whole posting. Ah well. That was the end of Open Office though. Now I'm using the spinoff from Open Office called Libre Office. So far so good. I'll remember some of the things I said but not all, I'm sure.

The emotions are governed by the Limbic system. That's in the brain. We feel our emotions elsewhere though, in the heart, in the gut, or 'think' we do. Maybe it's a little like this. Love is seated in the heart almost like a creature in residence and is of a size commensurate with the amount of activity it engages in. The theater of action that it operates in also has dimensions based on the area of activity it expands into. Love doesn't appreciate cramped conditions but in many cases, love is subjected to them. For the most part these conditions are generated by only a few competitors; fear, self interest (or selfishness, if you prefer), miserliness and attendant moods of similar construct.

One of the primary qualities of Love is expansion. Fear and selfishness express themselves in contraction. If love is not permitted to expand it will shrink. Like anything that is not exercised and employed, it heads toward Vestigial Canyon. It shouldn't be hard to understand why there is too little love in this world. Of course, in times of material darkness, the first casualty is Love. It should go without saying that Fear, Selfishness, Greed and Miserliness are all hot-housed during times of material darkness. They pass for acceptable qualities in these times. In 'their' words, “Greed is good”; I think Ayn Rand said that and who the Hell is John Galt?

Let's consider Love in metaphysical terms. It's said that God is Love. If that is so, it implies that Love is conscious, or perhaps, at the upper end of it, it possesses the capacity for consciousness. Maybe it possesses it at all levels but the quality of the consciousness is variable. Or one might say that the manner in which Love employs itself varies depending on its octave. At one level, Love would express itself in the capacity to share. At another it would express itself as the desire to serve. At its highest point it expresses itself as sacrifice. This we see in the tales of love personified in the lives of certain individuals who have made their mark on history but who are also the victims of legend and myth. All kinds of stories are told about these super beings. It's not that I don't think they are capable of anything said about them and... more. It's that many of the stories are teaching allegories, fraught with symbolism, constructed to convey a point. As a guy named Pontius Pilate once asked, “What is truth?”

Love is difficult to define but Truth? It's nigh on impossible, probably because Truth only gains definition according to what you are relating it to. All by itself it's some kind of blinding light but I would say the closest one can come to the truth is, 'the self'. I'd say there is a larger population embodying Love than Truth. Those focused on Truth as the be all and end all will certainly find themselves general outcasts in most every environment where Love might- then again might not- get a pass. Love is somewhat more user friendly than Truth which inevitably brings some form of trouble to the bearer. It's been said that “the truth will set you free”. It will also get your ass locked up as I can personally attest to.

Not only have we heard that God is Love but we have also heard “Love makes the world go round”, “Love conquers all”. “Love is all you need” and my favorite (cue the Doobie Brothers) “without Love, where would you be now?” Those are some heavy claims made about love. Confront most people with these sayings and most people will nod their heads and say, “Yes that's true”. Getting them to explain why they think so is going to be far more difficult and getting them to agree to live according to those statements, even harder.

At the moment, The Material World is browbeating Love into a near comatose submission. Were I Love, I would have packed my bags and headed for the hills some time ago but... I am not Love, only one of its inconsistent servants. I'm here to witness my mistakes in relation to the expression of a more perfect love and hopefully, with the aid of the invisible, correct those errors of thought, speech and action. I try to keep Love operative in my heart but all it takes is the right distraction to knock me off kilter and dump me by the side of the road. I know we passed the ten thousand times mark a long time ago.

Each of our lives are different. The same things are not asked of us all and the same burdens and trials are not placed on us all equally. Most of us piled those burdens and trials upon ourselves and some of us assumed them for the benefit of greater gain across the board but that would be the very few and as I've been told more than once, “all too few”. The things going on behind the scenes are far beyond mortal ken in many ways. To certain forces we are no more than cyphers. This is not to say they don't care but their level of dispassion concerning our brief and perpetuating appearances doesn't raise much interest or concern over the long haul and that is because most of us don't have much interest in the long haul to begin with. A lot of what goes on between the seen and unseen is meant to be reciprocal, is meant to be a quid pro quo. How can any relationship flourish without a regular back and forth? It can't. It will die off or go into remission, the same way a plant will dry up and die without light and water. If we're not drowning in irony around here, we're drowning in allegory and symbolism.

Does the usual person bopping down the street concern themselves with irony, allegory or symbolism? No, not at all. They got those earpods in their ears, shutting out (hoping to shut out) the world outside. Otherwise they are thumbfucking the cellphone, thinking about what they are going to eat when they get there, or impossible sexual fantasies, made impossible by their complete lack of faith in their ability to engineer such an event. I'm not pulling this out of the air, countless studies have proven what is on most people's minds, by the process of asking them in anonymous polls and interviews. I left out the main concern these days, which happens to be simple survival and which is increasing in intensity with every passing day. Those with too little are very concerned about their future. Those with too much are very concerned with holding on to it, as well as how to get more. Those armed to the teeth for the purpose of protecting those with too much, are concerned about their ability to do so when they are outnumbered ten thousand to one. We're all concerned about something. I'm concerned about the width of the Daath I've got to cross. Faith and Fear are the determinants of the expanse of emptiness. It varies. For some there is no noticeable gap. It's a mere step across. For others, it could be so wide that it has no other side. It is only as wide as your fear. Love and Fear displace each other. There are more powers secreted in Love than there are known to all living things.

There is a nasty war on. You see it exemplified in the good guys seeking to feed the indigent and the bad guys making this act against the law. You see it in the dark mission creep through the halls of power and in the hearts of those compromised by power who do not realize that Love is the greatest power and like the truth it makes you free. The only ones vulnerable to the shadow are those whose Fear exceeds their Love and the main impetus of the bad guys is to ratchet up the Fear and this they do by creating conditions that increase the Fear in the hearts of the populace. They do this by attacking the unity within us, which directly impacts on the unity between us and which further extends into our surrounding environment, where everything is projected as hostile and inimical. Eventually, the progression puts the majority of us in a world of fear and apprehension and then we become easy victims for manipulation.

The desire to plunder the assets of the population and the resources of Nature is evil. It is engaged in by the banks and corporations, the governments and religions and every self serving fool among us. The armies and police forces work for them. So long as you live in service to the Fear they have instilled in you, your chances are slim and few and far between (or something to that effect. There's something wrong with that sentence, I think). It all comes down to what you align yourself with; what you rely upon. If it is transitory then so are you.

The greatest power of Love, to my mind, is based on the principle that we become like that which we emulate. It's a good thing to keep in mind.

Yeah, I had just seen your comment after posting the item and that went through my mind too.

Hmmm for some reason your comment did not appear.

Seems like the best way to be right now is to not have a vested interest in anything here. Well, the only vested interest I do have is fulfilling my contract with myself ASAP so I can move on and the mandatory slavery that exists in conjunction with this disgusting realm can end sooner rather than later, but that's not under the control of the part of me that is conscious only of being here.

But I can bitch about it, and press a few buttons in the mean time, huh? ;^)

First, congratulations on being nice in today's post! (I know it can be difficult.)

Second, if it snows in Israel (http://www.weather.com/news/weather-winter/jerusalem-snow-photos-december-2013-20131212), does that mean hell froze over?

(I certainly hope not! I'll be VERY busy if the answer is yes.)

Vis: "Love is difficult to define but Truth? It's nigh on impossible, probably because Truth only gains definition according to what you are relating it to."

This reminds me of something loosely related, long ago. I was walking along an interstate highway underpass in Seattle. On a wall, one person had spray-painted the word, "Peace." Later, some other person had come along and spray-painted under it, "First Justice, then Peace."

I realized that I had encountered a kind of Zen Koan. This was a paradox; akin to running around in an ever-tightening circle. After contemplating it for some time, my own breakthrough or 'aha' was that it was impossible to solve within the same Consciousness Level that it was created. Only by stepping 'up' to a higher level did it become a non-issue. I have kept that 'aha' in the background of my mind when circulating in today's charged climate. (Thanks, whoever...)
---
Vis: "One of the primary qualities of Love is expansion. Fear and selfishness express themselves in contraction."

Good essay on the truth or consequences of Loving. Back in 2012, I posted a couple of extended columns on this subject that might be of use to someone, on Loved-Unloved-Unlovable and Abstracted Emotions vs True Emotions. They are kind of condensed, so if they strike a chord feel free to ask.
---
Vis: "A lot of what goes on between the seen and unseen is meant to be reciprocal, is meant to be a quid pro quo. How can any relationship flourish without a regular back and forth?"

Most profound and true. On my trips to England/Scotland, what I call Stone Circle Entities who were in isolated spots (or had had their 'marker' ring destroyed) were actually their own version of 'lonely', and wanting to converse with any friendly person. Also, not only did I learn a lot from different groups (much of which I am not aware of on a daily-consciousness level), but they were learning new things or ways of seeing as well. Mutually beneficial, as it were...
---
Vis: "[The bad guys] do this by attacking the unity within us, which directly impacts on the unity between us and which further extends into our surrounding environment, where everything is projected as hostile and inimical."

When my mother was nearing the end of her life, not having done much emotional processing, she was vulnerable to such projections. She would watch hours of local news and become fearful of even leaving the house, due to the emphasis on the negative (killings, muggings, car crashes, etc.). I would have to remind her that while a dozen or so people had had a bad day, the other million or so in the city had had a fair-to-good day. Often, this perspective would pop her out of her projection.
---
Vis "The greatest power of Love, to my mind, is based on the principle that we become like that which we emulate. It's a good thing to keep in mind."

Powerful. Worth repeating...

Best Wishes,
Ray B.

The first posting that I wrote (which was disappeared) was largely about the affect of attachment. For some reason it never made it's way into the second one.

A very fine, distilled, almost aethereal piece. i guess you must have a very 'light' soul.

However, at the risk of putting too fine (of) a point on it, i wanted to draw out something you said in the hopes of getting more of dialogue going and thereby moving closer to the truth (grin).

With all due respect, i noticed (what I think) is your first mention of the ideal of the 'internal ontological unity'. It's at the beginning of the following phrase, "...the unity within us, which directly impacts on the unity between us and which further extends into our surrounding environment, where everything is projected as hostile and inimical."

Now, even though i wholly concur with this assertion about the essential nature of the human being; i also feel obliged to play the devil's advocate. Please bear with me and let me assure you that i feel no ill will towards you personally.

With that said, i wish to add that, no matter how fearless, full of faith, and unified one soul may be, there also exists 'the others' as well as the 'external reality', which are both apart from the individual (with all forming a trinity of sorts).

Moreover, that external reality is presently revealing that the moment of reckoning is fast approaching. Apocalypse, anyone?

So, what I mean to say is this: It is all well and good to be wholly unified in one's self, but there are others out there acting to ruin the external planes of reality for us. Most importantly, those nare-do-wells are so contracted by greed and self-interest that for them having anything less than all of it is unthinkable. Therefore, isn't it incumbent upon us to start considering what is going to happen when those psychopaths can't get things to go their way (as they surely won't)?

We know we can't expect the multitudes to be intelligent or introspective enough to make value decisions about there own future in the worst economic crisis of our times. For the most part, they refuse to even acknowledge it, let alone act to change things. Thus, in spite all of our best efforts, hadn't we better begin facing the facts presenting themselves externally? Won't the rubes on those submarines and in the missile silos do as they're told and let all hell fly? And, hadn't we better start to moving to stop them before there's nothing left for the enlightened soul?

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Vis,if I may -from the Lankavatara Sutra.

THEN SAID MAHAMATI: Pray tell us, Blessed One, more about the Dharmakaya?

The Blessed One replied: We have been speaking of it in terms of Buddhahood, but as it is inscrutable and beyond predicate we may just as well speak of it as the Truth-body, or the Truth-principle of Ultimate Reality (Paramartha). This Ultimate Principle of Reality may be considered as it is manifested under seven aspects: First, as Citta-gocara, it is the world of spiritual experience and the abode of the Tathagatas on their outgoing mission of emancipation. It is Noble Wisdom manifested as the principle of irradiancy and individuation. Second, as Jnana, it is the mind-world and its principle of intellection and consciousness. Third, as Dristi, it is the realm of dualism which is the physical world of birth and death wherein are manifested all the differentiations of thinker, thinking and thought-about and wherein are manifested the principles of sensation, perception, discrimination, desire, attachment and suffering.

Fourth, because of the greed, anger, infatuation, suffering and need of the physical world incident to discrimination and attachment, it reveals a world beyond the realm of dualism wherein it appears as the integrating principle of charity and sympathy. Fifth, in a realm still higher, which is the abode of the Bodhisattva stages, and is analogous to the mind-world, where the interests of heart transcend those of the mind, it appears as the principle of compassion and self-giving. Sixth, in the spiritual realm where the Bodhisattvas attain Buddhahood, it appears as the principle of perfect Love (Karuna). Here the last clinging to an ego-self is abandoned and the Bodhisattva enters into his self-realisation of Noble Wisdom which is the bliss of the Tathagata's perfect enjoyment of his inmost nature. Seventh, as Prajna it is the active aspect of the Ultimate Principle wherein both the forth-going and the in-coming principles are alike, implicit and potential, and wherein both Wisdom and Love are in perfect balance, harmony and Oneness.

These are the seven aspects of the Ultimate Principle of Dharmakaya, by reason of which all things are made manifest and perfected and then reintegrated, and all remaining within its inscrutable Oneness, with no signs of individuation, nor beginning, nor succession, nor ending. We speak of it as Dharmakaya, as Ultimate Principle, as Buddhahood, as Nirvana; what matters it? They are only other names for Noble Wisdom.

I think that gets discussed pretty much every day day. It's the exception when it is not and techniques for relating to them and protecting oneself from them are presented, in many ways, many times.

Perhaps i should have been more explicit.

The Chinese and American militaries are preparing for war. The Israelis and Saudis are chomping at the bit to attack Iran. NATO is threatening to strike Russia first and vice versa. Southern Europe is collapsing economically. Argentina is under lock down. The Greeks are rioting regularly. Spain has made it illegal to gather publicly in protest. Fukushima is spewing massive amounts of radiation. Japan just killed its democracy and silenced wisdom. France might as well be in the year 1788. Austerity is literally killing people all over the world while the bankers make out better than ever. The intelligence agencies are spying on everyone. The military sprays us like bugs all the time around the world. There's another global currency reset due shortly and everyone is going to lose big.

And i think that no one's ready. So, i guess i'm just wondering if it might not be time to start talking about what is to be done on the material plane?

this is a beautiful posting. There is one thing I would like to point out, taken from my own experience, and that is the importance of Loving Self (not serving self, but Loving). Without just a little bit of Love for the Self, one is fucked, utterly. Maybe you said it regarding the inner unity...

It translates to some things I like to remember. I am just human. It allright to make mistakes, as long as I forgive myself. Gently does it. It's much more fun that way, too, hehe.

thanks Vis :)

Hey Walking Horse; I kept wanting to put together a memorial book for Neil for his upcoming anniversary. Several times I asked readers to send me a written testimonial and their favorite poems. No one ever did. Now there's only about two months left and I am no longer in a position to do this because my time is engaged in my relocation effort and related things. I thought I should mention that now while there's still plenty of time to get it done by whoever feels so inclined.

I'm not in a position to do much on a book of Neil's poems, but if you'll allow me to keep posting past ones on the current post by you, we can keep his powerful energy, memory Alive.

What happens is I read your current post and go back to a past posting by you and randomly pick the first poem I happen across. That's the one I put in comments.I believe that Neil is helping to do this because it seems like his poem always fits the topic you talk about. That's about as much as I can do to help.
I'm into all his more positive material.(positive vibes)
Life for me is all about vibrations, how to absorb, reflect, change etc...

Maybe you will allow me to continue to do this channeling of Neil's work.? It's All Good.!

Hey Les!
I think that all things Good are actually very simple, so I define Love simply as "Giving of One's self". There is no limit on how One can give of One's self as long as it is "Of the Light".
My definition of Truth is simply "What is" versus the definition of lies and deceit might be "What is not". Since what is not is not, once One realizes it is deceit it simply falls away.
Thanks again for your help a few weeks back, the situation has turned around so dramatically that the dude doesn't even work with me anymore. That's Love.

"So, what I mean to say is this: It is all well and good to be wholly unified in one's self, but there are others out there acting to ruin the external planes of reality for us ... Therefore, isn't it incumbent upon us to start considering what is going to happen when those psychopaths can't get things to go their way (as they surely won't)?"

When I read the above, it flashed me back into the scene in the second "Lord of the Rings" movie where Galadriel is telepathically communicating with Elrond:

"The strength of the Ringbearer is failing. In his heart, Frodo begins to understand: The quest will claim his life. You know this. You have foreseen it. It is the risk we all took. In the gathering dark, the will of the Ring grows strong. It works hard now to find its way back into the hands of men. Men, who are so easily seduced by its power. The young captain of Gondor has but to extend his hand, take the Ring for his own and the world will fall. It is close now, so close to achieving its goal. For Sauron will have dominion over all life on this Earth, even unto the ending of the world. The time of the Elves is over. Do we leave Middle-Earth to its fate? Do we let them stand alone?"

And, of course, the response (given by Haldir):

"I bring word from Lord Elrond of Rivendell. An Alliance once existed between Elves and Men. Long ago we fought and died together. We come to honor that allegiance... We are proud to fight alongside Men once more."

In answer to your question (if I may enter the conversation), I state that something like the above has already occurred. Mankind, on their own, had been unable to stop the 'march' of a being (and his subordinates) that I call the 'farmer'. The (real) Elves had been distant, believing that it was Mankind's choice to become degraded. Then, they found out that they had also been 'messed with'. That was the beginning of a real-world alliance "between Elves and Men" (and more - grin). It has been very successful, to the point where we are (metaphorically) waiting for the One Ring to dissolve. It's almost over...

Best Wishes,
Ray B.
